A Local's Guide to WorldPride Amsterdam 2026

WorldPride is coming to Amsterdam. From the Canal Parade to the biggest street parties, here's our local guide to two weeks of queer joy.

A Local's Guide to WorldPride Amsterdam 2026

If you’ve never been to Amsterdam during Pride, let me warn you: the city becomes completely unrecognisable.

The canals fill with glitter. Every square seems to have a stage and every bar has spilled onto the street. Someone will inevitably be dancing on top of a boat wearing a harness and a smile. And somehow, despite the crowds, Amsterdam still manages to feel like a village where everyone knows someone.

This year is even bigger.

For the first time, Amsterdam is hosting WorldPride, bringing visitors from across the globe for two weeks of celebrations, culture, activism and, of course, a lot of parties.

WorldPride Amsterdam takes place from 25 July until 8 August 2026, with events spread across the entire city. Whether you’re flying in for a weekend or planning to stay for the full two weeks, there will be something happening every single day.

The events you shouldn’t miss

Pride Walk & Pride Park

Pride Walk Amsterdam

WorldPride begins with the Pride Walk through the heart of Amsterdam, ending in the Vondelpark for Pride Park.

It’s easy to think of Pride as one big party, but it’s worth remembering that Pride has always been political. The first marches were protests, and even today many LGBTQIA+ people around the world still don’t enjoy the freedoms that many of us can experience in Amsterdam.

The Pride Walk is a celebration, but it’s also a statement: we are here, we belong, and we’re not going anywhere.

Pride Park keeps that energy going with performances, community organisations, the Rainbow Market, sports events and plenty of opportunities to meet new people.

Canal Parade

If there’s one event that has made Amsterdam Pride famous around the world, this is it.

On 1 August, around 200 boats representing charities, businesses, activist groups and LGBTQIA+ organisations will make their way through the canals. Thousands of people line the bridges and waterfronts while the entire city seems to stop and watch. The boats, the music and the crowds create an atmosphere that is difficult to explain unless you’ve experienced it yourself.

Even after living here for years, it still feels a little surreal to watch drag queens, dancers, activists and community groups sail through the middle of the city while thousands cheer from the bridges.

Street Parties

Street Party during Amsterdam Pride

The beauty of Amsterdam Pride is that you don’t always need a ticket. The streets themselves become the venue.

The biggest street parties are at Reguliersdwarsstraat, Zeedijk, the Homomonument and Prik. You’ll find DJs, drag performances, outdoor bars and thousands of people simply enjoying the freedom to be themselves.

WorldPride Village

During the second week of WorldPride, Museumplein becomes the meeting place for locals and visitors from across the globe.

The WorldPride Village brings together LGBTQIA+ organisations, community projects and cultural programmes, but it’s also home to some of the festival’s biggest moments. The UNITY Concert, Wedding Party XXL and Closing Concert will all take place here.

Alongside the parties, there are exhibitions, talks, performances and conversations about where our community has come from and where it still needs to go.

More than a party

Amsterdam holds a special place in LGBTQIA+ history.

The Netherlands was the first country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage, and WorldPride arrives as the country celebrates twenty-five years of marriage equality. It’s a milestone worth celebrating, but also a reminder that equal rights are still under threat in many parts of the world.

You’ll find film festivals, cultural programmes, human rights conferences and community events happening alongside the parties.

The best Pride experiences usually happen somewhere in the middle: watching a drag show after visiting an exhibition, making new friends in a bar, then cycling home at three in the morning wondering how this city can feel so magical.

Looking for drag entertainment during WorldPride?

At Fruity, we’re a little biased, but we think drag is one of the best ways to experience queer culture.

If you’re organising a corporate event, private party, brunch, bar night or community gathering during WorldPride, we can help connect you with local drag performers, hosts and queer entertainers based in Amsterdam.

Fruity isn’t a traditional agency. We’re a platform built by performers, for performers, making it easier to discover the incredible talent that already exists in our community.

WorldPride only comes to Amsterdam once.

Book the trip. Stay out too late. Watch a drag show. Cheer for the boats. Meet strangers who become friends.

We’ll see you somewhere by the canals.
